HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE
High strength concrete (HSC) may be defined as concrete with a specified characteristic cube strength between 60 and 100 N/mm2, although higher strengths have been achieved and used.
The main applications are in offshore structures, columns for tall buildings, long-span bridges, and other highway structures.
The main advantage is the reduction in size of compression elements and/or the amount of longitudinal reinforcement required.
HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE
High-Performance Concrete (HPC) may be defined as concrete with strength and durability significantly beyond those obtained by normal means.
The required properties depend on the properties of normal concrete achievable at a particular time and location.

Normally HPC is designed to have better mechanical properties and a higher resistance to aggressive chemicals than traditional concrete
TEMPERATURE CONTROL MASS CONCRETING
Specifications for mass concrete require thermal control plans to minimize cracking.
It requires contractors to provide thermal control plans to ensure that the differential between the core temperature and the surface temperature is never high enough to cause cracking.
Contractors and engineers on these projects are increasingly called upon to develop a temperature control plan to meet these specifications.
